A Flower Is Named
Sitting in the yard with a friend,
we noticed a rose bush
with only a couple of leaves and no flowers.
In fact, it hadn't bloomed in so long,
I'd forgotten its color.
"It's time to dig it out," I said to my friend.
The next morning with a shovel on my shoulder, I headed to the garden.
A bright yellow rose filled with sunlight greeted me.
I thought, "It must have heard me yesterday. It wants to live."
Instead of digging it out, I took its picture.
It's name is 'Hope.'
It bloomed for many years.
Hope
To expect promises of good
to happen
To have confidence and trust in
Just living is not enough ...
one must have sunshine, freedom,
and a little flower.
